Accessibility statement

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This accessibility statement applies to the whole of the https://feature-activity-sensitivity-tool.scot domain.

This website is managed by Scottish Natural Heritage (operating as NatureScot) on behalf of the FeAST Working Group. We want all users to have a positive experience in using the website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400 % without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible is this website?

We have put significant effort into ensuring this website is as accessible as possible, but we know some parts are not fully accessible. We are actively working to address these issues, as part of an ongoing programme to improve the accessibility of this website and we will update this “Accessibility Statement” when issues are resolved and tested.

Issues affecting colour contrast

  • Each page has an image banner at the top. There is some white text that overlays these images. Occasionally, there may not always be enough colour contrast for all text. This is due to variations in colour across the image and the image and text placement changing depending on screen size and zoom.

Feedback and contact information

Due to the interactive nature of the system, it is not possible to provide the content in different formats like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or Braille.

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please email us at feast@nature.scot or use the contact form on our help page.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The FeAST Working Group is committed to making the FeAST application accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content that is non-accessible is listed below together with an explanation and reference to the relevant WCAG section.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Success Criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
    • With relation to the above WCAG section, each page of FeAST has an image banner at the top with white text overlaid. The contrast between the text and the image behind does not always meet the contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for text, or 3:1 for large text. We are exploring options to edit the text to ensure it meets minimum colour contrast requirements.

Disproportionate burden

We aim to fix all the WCAG non-conformances but reliance on third-party content means we may need to use the disproportionate burden exemption. We will update this section when we have finished reviewing the accessibility testing results.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Not applicable

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are actively working to address these issues as part of an ongoing programme to improve the accessibility of this website, and we will update this “Accessibility Statement” when each issue has been resolved and tested. This statement will also be reviewed following updates to WCAG guidelines and / or development changes to the FeAST website.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 7th June 2023. It was last reviewed on 23rd June 2025.

This website was last tested on 20th September 2024 across manual test cases that followed the WCAG 2.2 guidelines. This website was tested for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 level A and level AA, using the services of an independent Accessibility advisory. We used the Website Accessibility Conformance Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM) approach to decide on a sample of pages to test. This included the Home page and other representative pages including, standard content pages with embedded media such as images, videos, iframes, maps, image galleries, forms, listing pages, news pages, FAQ pages and gateway pages.
